If you’re hunting for the best supplements for muscle gain then you’re not alone! It’s probably the one question I get the most from people – “what supplements should I take?”
And the supplement industry has exploded in recent years with all sorts of new products out there. This has made it easy to get confused about which supplements are truly useful and can help you build muscle quickly.
So with that in mind, let’s take a look at….
The Best Supplements For Muscle Gain
At the end of the day, I believe anyone that is serious about packing on muscle can benefit from 3 main supplements:
1) Protein Powder
This is the granddaddy of all supplements because it should be a staple in anyone’s supplementation. Protein is so critical in building muscle and even though you can find it in many foods like chicken or tuna, protein powder is the easiest way to take in protein without anything else.
And it’s so cheap now! I personally use isolate protein powder (I pay $50 for 5lbs) but if you’re tight on cash you can use regular whey protein powder. This should run you about $30-$40 for 5lbs.
If you can only afford one supplement, make it protein powder. It’s on the list of best supplements for muscle gain for good reason!
2) Creatine
Creatine has been around for years now and it continues to help people pack on muscle quicker than they normally would be able to. For myself, it gave a huge boost to my strength and I was lucky to see some terrific results.
And I’m definitely not the only one, making creatine land on the list of best supplements for muscle gain.
If you want to stick to basic, just look for creatine monohydrate. It’s incredibly cheap when you buy it on it’s own.
However there are a ton of other “supplement cocktails” that include creatine. There is a ton of “preworkout” supplements that are meant to be taken before you hit the gym. These will typically include energy boosters (like caffeine), amino acids and creatine.
These end up being a lot more expensive per serving, so depending on your budget, you might want to just stick with creatine on it’s own. You can easily add it to your protein shake.
3) Beta Alanine
This is the third and final supplement to make it to the list of best supplements for muscle gain. Beta-Alanine has gotten a lot of attention in recent years and for good reason!
This amino acid has proved to be amazing when it comes to building strength, improving recovery times and overall results from weight lifting sessions.
I personally use a product called “intrabolic” which contains beta-alanine and a bunch of other ingredients. It’s a shake that I drink during my workout and I’ve enjoyed the results from it.
But you can buy beta-alanine in powder form (or pill form) without any other fillers. This makes it cheaper.
Final thoughts on the best supplements for muscle gain
At the end of the day, these three supplements are what I consider to be the best supplements for muscle gain. I’ve seen terrific results from all three of them and they aren’t just some fancy new product that some company is pumping with creative marketing.
Don’t fall for all the fancy ads that are out there for the “next big thing”. The best supplements for muscle gain have been giving weightlifters results for years and can easily be incorporated in your routine.
